Changing program terms
How updates to program terms are versioned and why existing affiliates keep visibility into changes.
What this is
The process for editing a program's terms after they were first published.
Why it matters
Affiliates already working with your program are relying on the terms they agreed to. Program terms are versioned, so changes do not silently rewrite what an existing affiliate accepted.
How to do it
- Open the program's terms editor from its workspace.
- Update any field using the same Program Terms Builder used at setup.
- Review the conflict check again; the same mandatory rule protections apply to edited terms as to the original terms.
- Publish the updated terms. The change is recorded as a new version of the document.
What happens next
Affiliates can see that terms changed. Because the platform versions the document, both you and affiliates retain a record of what applied at any point in time.
Common mistakes
Do not use a terms update to try to reduce commissions already earned under the prior terms; reversal handling and payout rules are protected by the platform's mandatory rules regardless of version.
See Understanding Program Terms for the full list of fields and mandatory protections.
