Program Terms Builder

How to use the guided form that produces your program's terms document.

What this is

The Program Terms Builder is the guided form inside a program's workspace that walks you through each terms field one at a time and renders the final terms document.

Why it matters

Filling in structured fields instead of writing free-form terms keeps your program consistent with every other program on the platform and ensures nothing legally required is missed.

How to do it

  1. Open your program's workspace and go to its terms editor.
  2. Complete each field: commission structure, commission event, attribution window, lead protection, approval method, payout schedule and minimum, reversal handling, self referral, coupon use, paid search, trademark use, promotional methods, recurring commissions, and geographic eligibility. All of these are required except supplemental notes, which is optional.
  3. Each field includes example placeholder text to guide your answer, for example "10 percent of the product subtotal on all orders" for commission structure, or "self referrals are not permitted" for self referral.
  4. Review any conflict warnings. The builder checks your answers against a list of prohibited patterns, such as language that would waive platform rules or refuse to pay approved commissions, and will not let you publish until conflicts are resolved.
  5. Publish the terms. The rendered document lists your answers under labeled sections, followed by the platform rules that always apply, with a note that platform rules control if the two disagree.

What happens next

Affiliates see this document when applying and must accept it. See Changing Program Terms for how to make updates later.

Common mistakes

Do not leave a required field with fewer than three characters; the builder will not accept a placeholder-length answer.
