Understanding commissions

What this is

A commission is the amount you earn when a tracked conversion meets a program's commission rule. Commissions appear on the Payments page under Commission activity.

Why it matters

Commissions can come from two sources: automatically tracked and verified events (created from your tracking activity through the platform's system), or amounts added manually by the merchant. Knowing which kind you are looking at helps you understand where a figure came from.

How to do it

1. Open the Payments page and review Commission activity. Each entry shows the amount, its status, and whether it was "Automatically tracked and verified" or "Added manually by the merchant," plus its approval mode if one is set.
2. Compare commission totals against the Payout minimums card, which shows each program's minimum payout amount and how much of your unpaid commission balance has accumulated toward it.
3. Review Commission Statuses to understand what each status label means.
4. If a sale is refunded, returned, or charged back, expect the related commission to be reduced or reversed; see Refunds, Chargebacks, and Disputes.

What happens next

Once your unpaid commissions across a program reach that program's minimum payout amount, the merchant becomes responsible for sending your next payment according to their published payment schedule. Diversified Affiliates does not hold or forward this money at any point.

Common mistakes

Do not expect commissions to convert into an immediate payment. Reaching a program's payout minimum only means a merchant is now expected to pay soon, according to their schedule, not that payment happens automatically or instantly.
