Leads and affiliate of record

How submitted leads move through review and who they credit.

What this is

For lead-based programs (Lead Generation, Qualified Lead, or Customer Acquisition program types), a submitted lead moves through a workflow with statuses of submitted, under review, accepted, rejected, or converted.

Why it matters

The affiliate credited with a lead is the one whose tracking link or method drove the submission. Your decision on a lead's status determines whether it counts toward a commission.

How to do it

  1. Open Operations and select the Leads tab.
  2. Review each lead's lead number, customer name (if provided), program, and current status.
  3. Use the status dropdown to move a lead to submitted, under review, accepted, rejected, or converted, and optionally add a note explaining your decision.
  4. The affiliate is notified of the status change and any note you added.

What happens next

Lead protection, described in your program terms, determines how long an accepted lead stays exclusively credited to that affiliate before it can be resubmitted or reassigned.

Common mistakes

Do not leave leads in "submitted" status indefinitely; affiliates rely on timely review to know whether their referral will be credited.

See Understanding Program Terms for the lead protection field.
