Tracking IDs and referral links

How affiliates get a tracking link for your program and what it records.

What this is

An affiliate creates a referral link for one of your active programs from their own workspace. Opening that link records a click for that affiliate and program.

Why it matters

The link is how a customer's visit becomes attributable to a specific affiliate. Without a click recorded first, a later order cannot be matched back to anyone.

How to do it

  1. Confirm the affiliate's relationship with your program has a status of approved or active; the platform only allows link creation for those statuses.
  2. Confirm the program itself is Diversified Affiliates approved and in an active or paused status; tracking is disabled otherwise.
  3. Direct affiliates to their tracking tools inside the platform to generate their link for your program.
  4. You can generate and open your own test link from Test Tracking to see exactly what an affiliate experiences.

What happens next

Each click is logged, and Analytics and Reports break down performance by tracking ID so you can see which affiliate or source drove results.

Common mistakes

Do not expect a link to work if the affiliate's status or your program's status is not eligible; the platform blocks link creation in that case with an explanatory error.
